Citizens for Support of Yelm Schools
Bond and Levy
(2018/19/20)
About the Project
The Citizens for Support of Yelm Schools (CSYS) are a group of concerned voters and parents who see the need to be involved in their community and support their local school district. CSYS is working in partnership with Yelm Community Schools to “tell the story,” share school data and conduct voter outreach.
The Yelm community had not passed a school bond since 2003. CSYS knew that because of the failures to pass a bond in 2016 and 2018, they needed to change their strategy on how they would inform and reach voters. At the start of the campaign in 2018, CSYS invited me to join the team.

"We hired Eddie on a campaign. His great listening skills result in capturing your vision, tailored to your audience. He instinctively knows how to tell your story effectively, while using beautiful imagery. I highly recommend him!"
- Paul & Sandra | CSYS Head Chair Members
In three months, we created over eight videos. Not only did we distribute our videos on social media, we also placed them in local movie theaters and ran targeted Facebook advertisements to increase brand awareness.
Our strategy was to create visuals that caught the attention of voters, create awareness of the bond measure, educate voters, and get the community involved in our efforts.
After a successful campaign, the Citizens for Support of Yelm Schools invited me back to the team in the fall of 2019 to help pass a levy measure for 2020. We had a successful levy campaign and it passed!
Gary Edwards for Thurston County Commissioner
August 2020 - November 2020
About the Project
My Responsibilities

At the time Gary Edwards was the current Thurston County Commissioner in Position 2. Gary was running for re-election against a highly sought-after candidate. Gary was in search of a print and digital marketing strategy that would reach all of Thurston County, instill positive impressions on voters, and communicate his passion for making Thurston County a great place to live and work for generations to come.
During his previous campaign in 2017, Gary focused his budget towards television, banner, and print advertisements. With the power of social media being such a huge influence on voters, we created a digital and video strategy that would effectively inform voters of his key goals and increase his brand awareness.

Successful election campaign
50.57% to 49% Win (as of Nov. 13, 2020)
With new Facebook regulations prohibiting all paid advertisements for elections in Washington state, we needed a new strategy to beat the organic Facebook algorithm.
The plan of action was to create four videos that focused on Gary's history and involvement in the community, his accomplishments the past few years, and his objectives moving forward once re-elected. Multiple edits of each video were created to double the amount of content distributed. Additionally, we asked for Gary's supporters to submit video testimonials to use as campaign content. We received fourteen submissions that helped us reach a greater demographic in Thurston County. With our efforts, Gary was re-elected as Thurston County Commissioner Position 2.
